The Tenth Edition of the Delhi Dialogue was held in Delhi on 19th and 20th July 2018. Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Prof. Sunaina Singh chaired the Plenary Session on ‘Strengthening Socio-Cultural Links’ which featured Hon’ble Minister of State for External Affairs, Shri MJ Akbar as the Keynote speaker and a special address by Member of Parliament and President of ICCR, Dr. Vinay Sahasrabudde. Other prominent speakers included Dr Thant Myint U, Chairman, Yangon Heritage Trust, Yangon; Mr Rajesh Purohit, Director, Indian Museum, Kolkata; Prof. Bernadette G.L. Abrera, Dean, University of the Philippines in Diliman and Prof. Sabuj Koli Sen, Vice-Chancellor, Visva-Bharati University, Shantiniketan. The dialogue is an important platform for engagement with ASEAN which acts as the fulcrum of India’s ACT East Policy on political, security and economic issues. Minister for External Affairs, Smt Sushma Swaraj chaired the Ministerial session.
The 10th Edition of the Delhi Dialogue was held in furtherance of the vision of the leaders of ASEAN and India on the maritime affairs, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) in partnership with the Research and Information System for Developing Countries (RIS) with the theme, “Strengthening India- ASEAN Maritime Advantage”. Delhi Dialogue is an annual forum for discussing politico-security, economic and socio-cultural issues between ASEAN and India. Since 2009, when the conference was first held, Delhi Dialogue has emerged as an important forum at which political leaders, policy makers, researchers, academicians, business leaders and media persons converge for brainstorming on a range of issues pertaining to ASEAN-India relations.
