Students in the School of Historical Studies are supported by a number of unique library resources.
Nalanda University Library is a global member of the Center for Research Libraries (Chicago, USA). The Center for Research Libraries provides access to a vast number of primary and secondary sources, historical newspapers, and maps relevant to all aspects of the research and teaching interests of the School. Items are requested online and received electronically within five business days. Nalanda University Library is the only library in Asia to be a member of the Center for Research Libraries (aside from the University of Hong Kong).
Students also have access to the online Bibliography of Asian Studies (BAS), the largest bibliography on Asian Studies, in general, from 1971 to the present.
Nalanda University Library also houses the Ken Gardiner Collection, the first private collection of the Nalanda University Library. The Ken Gardiner Collection contains many unique and invaluable monographs and journals related to Korean Studies in English, Korean, and Chinese languages.
Nalanda University Library also holds all publications of the Archaeological Survey of India. These and other resources can be searched via the online Catalogue.
In addition to a growing number of physical volumes and e-books, the library also subscribes to many major journal databases such as JSTOR, Project Muse, Cambridge, and Oxford. It is also a member of DELNET, another resource for inter-library loan (books and articles) throughout India. The Library is continuously making additions to its collection.
